Bokio UK Closing: What You Need to Do

Bokio, the Swedish cloud accounting software, announced in May 2026 that it will cease UK operations on 30 June 2026. The company cited its focus on Bokio's core Swedish business as the reason for the withdrawal from the UK market. Bokio remains operational in Sweden, where it continues to develop the product.

If you use Bokio for your small business accounting, you must act now. After 30 June, you will lose all access to your account and cannot retrieve any data from the platform. Download all your reports, invoices, receipts, and accounting records immediately.

The company will refund any remaining subscription fees up to the closure date. However, the responsibility falls on users to export their data before the deadline. Consider moving to alternatives such as Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, or Pandle before the cut-off.

Bokio was acquired by Norwegian accounting giant Visma in 2022 for approximately 100m. This UK closure reflects Visma's strategic focus on core markets rather than a company-wide shutdown. If you need help migrating your data to a new platform, contact your accountant or bookkeeper for guidance.
